Kilkishen Cultural Centre Official Opening

There was a large turnout in Kilkishen on Friday July 3rd for the Official Opening of the Kilkishen Cultural Centre.  Master of Ceremonies for the day was Cllr PJ Ryan who welcomed the assembled audience including local TD’s & County Councillors.  The Chairman of Kilkishen Development Limited, Mike Hogan, spoke about the effort that had gone into restoring the disused Church of Ireland building.  He thanked all the people who had helped organise and supported the numerous fundraisers for the project.  Newly elected Mayor of Clare, James Breen, in his first Official Function as Mayor spoke of the results that can be achieved by volunteers in the community.  The building was then blessed by local Parish Priest, Fr Donal O’Dwyer while the Church of Ireland Bishop of Limerick & Killaloe, Kenneth Kearon, spoke of his delight at seeing the finished centre.  The guest of honour on the day was Dóirín Graham, Chief Executive of Clare Local Development Company said that she was delighted to see this project completed and she was thrilled to have been invited to Officially Open the centre.  This project was been part-funded by the LEADER programme, through the National Development Plan and by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.  Following the formalities of the day, there was a champagne reception and an array of finger food for the guests.  Given the glorious weather on the day, the atmosphere on day was one of celebration in a garden party style event.
